Bar
The greenroom bar is one of Manchester’s hidden gems that you need to know about.
OPEN! The bar is open Weds - Sat evenings every week and occasionally can be found open on other days, catering to special events such as Emergency - a free contemporary performance festival hosting 40 performances in 36 hours- or the mega Green Bohemia In The City event – which saw 30 bands play here over 2 days.
Our bar is welcoming & relaxing, offering a bit of respite from the bustle of the city centre. However, if you’re still in work mode; why not grab a coffee (fair-trade, of course) & make use of our free wi-fi facility.
DRINK! If you’re after something a little stronger than coffee, our bar boasts a diverse range of world beers (from wheat beers to real ales, Pilsners to ciders, fruit beers to speciality Belgian beers) with not an Alcopop in sight! Our spirit selection is classic with a few twists. Old favourites like Grey Goose Vodka & Bombay Sapphire Gin nestled up next to an impressive range of Malt Whiskey. If it’s a softie you’re after, we have 8 different juices on offer from the ordinary to the very exotic; Strawberry Juice being a big favourite.
FUN! Almost every evening there is something going on in the bar, a lot of which is free. The first Wednesday of the month sees NanimeW showcase the best in Japanese film, anime & pop music. If film is your cup of tea, check out KinoFilm, our monthly Short Film night (with the odd feature film thrown in for good measure) from local new talent. Each film has a Q&A session afterwards- optional of course!
Freed Up! is the last Thursday of every month and lays claim to be “the friendliest open mic poetry night in Manchester”. Well, that’s what we reckon, come down & judge for yourself!
Our two wonderful cabaret sisters are a right pair of delightful little treats! The Cabaret Formerly Known as Bucket is a deliciously surreal cabaret of alternative entertainment, with comedy performances, live music, magic, puppetry, burlesque & belly dancing. Or try Mother’s Ruin, where glam high antics schmooze with low art frills, let down your weave & get slutty in an evening of schenanighans & debauchery with hostess Timberlina.
If you fancy something a bit more rock n roll, pop down to Green Bohemia. Now in its 6th (!!!) year, Green Bohemia has played host to most of Manchester’s finest bands & solo artists (and many others from further afield!) in the intimate setting of our mezzanine. A note of caution, come early as it’s infamously busy & it’s a belter of a night, we’d hate you to miss out!
Our newest event, Larkin’ About has already proved a huge hit. Bringing out the inner child in us all, Larkin’ About is Manchester’s first immersive gaming event, you won’t experience a night like this anywhere else in the North.
Last but by no means least, VaudeVille is something extra special. From deliberately absurd performance to film shorts to a musical milk float & bicycle orchestra, VaudeVille is a night where the unusual meets the outright bizarre. If you fancy something far from ordinary, then come & drown your bitterness in the strong liquor of VaudeVille.
Even if there’s no event on, Wednesday - Saturday we are open anyway so why not pop in for a cheeky pint, a packet of pork scratchings & a gossip. We like having visitors & we’ve even bought Connect 4, dominoes & scrabble (amongst others) to keep you happy!
Whatever your preferred entertainment, whatever your tipple greenroom bar has something to suit everyone & we hope you’ll love it as much as we do.
Please check our What’s On page to check the Bar and main performance space listings.
