emergency, greenroom’s ‘must-see’ trade-mark annual open platform event, for

contemporary performance, dance, live art, intervention and installation, encompassing greenroom’s support for emerging artists working with new, unusual, untried and untested ideas, returns for its 7th manic year running.

This year has seen the largest ever number of submissions from artists and aspiring artists wanting to perform at greenroom. As an audience member, what you get is back to back performance: a marathon of new, fresh, contemporary ideas played out for the first time in front of an audience. It’s anything but ordinary.

‘This year, we’ve seen some interesting themes occurring’, says co-producer, Tamsin Drury from hÅb, ‘…we open on Friday with puppetry from local artists Mishimou and Sonya Moorhead, then Oliver Bray’s Towards a Contemporary Christmas and Gary Gardiner’s SANTA: The Absent Father, might make you think Christmas comes earlier every year. We’ve got a peepshow, a sonic installation, a search for an invisible city, and some beautifully crafted soul searching. And The Street Pole Dancers… well that’s one you really need to experience in person’.

Over forty performances ranging from just 5 minutes to half and hour, in a day and a half – and all for free.

No advanced booking is required – although this year promises to be extremely busy, and some shows have limited capacity, so turning up early is always advisable.

emergency will showcase a record number of entirely new performances by the North West’s most promising performance artists, plus some national guests too:
