In true KINO fashion, we bring you a great programme of new and recent short films including a Special SNEAK PREVIEW from one of our top local filmmaking team. Discussions this week will be hosted by Will Massa, New Talent Development and Film Executive, Vision+Media.

My Lad (2010, 12m, Manchester)

Addul has been hiding out in his launderette for days, unable to deal with the world outside. Despite pleas from his brother, Abdul is determined to run from the one thing he has to accept – Fate.
Q & A with director Sami Khan and producer Eddie Robson.

Following are two local films produced for the Virgin Shorts competition, including the Winner of the People’s Choice Award. The makers of both films will be present to talk about their experience of producing a film for the competition.

Bus Baby (2010, 1m 30s, Manchester)

Britain has the largest teen pregnancy rate in Europe. Bus baby tackles the issues facing teenage mothers head on and asks some difficult questions. It is hard hitting yet humorous film.

After two years of visiting his favourite cafe, will Joe end up in a pickle when he finally asks the gorgeous waitress on a date?

Into the Woods (6m, Yorkshire)
Dir/writ; Matt Taabu, Prods; Rob Speranza and Alex Usborne, Writ;
Walking through the woods, a British family encounter a stranger who doesn’t speak English. Whilst their son senses something is wrong, the parents fall victim to their own prejudices, misreading the stranger’s intentions, and setting upon a course of action that has far-reaching consequences for them all.

Under every cloud there’s a silver lining… and blue it shines … A dream turns reality for one true blue as his football dream comes alive. Very relevant screening at Kino on Manchester Derby Day!

A light hearted drama set around two people from opposite ends of the social spectrum, who one day inadvertently strike up a conversation and get to understand each other and how life can change your views.

…about Kino Shorts

Kinofilm Logo Kino Shorts is an evening of new short films selected for their quality of production & originality,  with a Q&A session following each film screening. Films are short fiction, animation, experimental or documentarymade in the last 12 months. Occasionally the programme may include a premiere of a North West feature (check web site for up to date programme). There is also a late bar and time for networking.
