Enjoy a motionless tour through some frames of the films selected for moves09 that will take you to the world of movement on screen.
moves is a platform exploring rhythmical visual work all over the UK. The festival shows films, videos, interactive installations and live events which make audiences want to move, jiggle and dance.
This year’s moves programme explores the narrative possibilities of movement on screen through more than 20 screenings and installations in 10 venues throughout the North West and the UK. You can enjoy treats at home (through our online programme), in cinemas, bars and restaurants. We also celebrate our 5th anniversary launching some new strands: moves classics revisits work of great masters such as Jan Svankmajer and Cartwheel, a family-friendly strand featuring the screening of 1926 Lotte Reiniger’s Arabic fairy-tale The Adventures of Prince Achmed. Highlights of the programme also include our guest-curated Cartes Blanches programmes from Australia, South Africa and Spain.
At moves09 you can:
- WATCH more than 80 UK Premieres and the special Cartes Blanches programmes handpicked for moves by curators from all over the world
- SHARE content at our forums.
- CREATE your own video work at moves lab and explore your creativity at our masterclass.
- PLAY with our interactive installations and throughout!
