The Nouvelles

The first of The Nouvelles residencies at greenroom – a succession of free entry shows leading up to 2 headline shows at Manchester Academy 3 and 4 on Friday 4th April and Saturday 14th June.*

Following the popularity of The Nouvelles free residency at The Castle; Oldham Street, after only two months to accommodate the crowds the nights have been moved and are set to continue at a bigger venue: greenroom, with top quality support and special guest indie DJs to give the night a pre-club feel (for those who go on to South, 5th, Venue etc).

The band has also been granted a residency at MMSU, which is very exciting; and are currently negotiating support shows with The Twang and other major acts.

The Nouvelles are the best new band in Manchester in the words of several radio DJs. Clash Magazine, London placed them in the Best Bands list at In The City 2007 (which was only their 2nd gig!), then in Best Tracks list from the In The City 2007 c/o Clash Magazine again, and were named Best Live Band at In The City 2007 by Adam Rigney of Syndicate of Sound.

The bands’ free download pre-release promo tracks have finally been recorded, mixed and released and can be downloaded from their myspace page: www.myspace.com/thenouvelles or purchased on limited edition CD now. The band has had over 100,000 profile views on myspace already, which makes them one of the most popular myspace bands in the Northwest!

“the best new band in Manchester…” – DJs Zac & Paul, Salford Radio, 2 March 2008
“Jacko will be massive” - Daily Mirror (Ire) journo Maeve Quigley

Other acts on the bill…

The Moods – up-and-coming lads from North Manchester, very Mancunian in style, and like the Nouvelles proved one of Clash magazines’ best bands at ITC 2007.

The Score – ska dance style hipsters from Stretford Manchester, these lads gig like mad! They have their own unique sound, and have proved more than hardworking and effective in support for Nouvelles at the Castle residency.

The Joint – with nearly political lyrics such as in “Beirut”, these lads create a very unique style of indie guitar, heavy in parts, but melodic and powerful. One of The Nouvelles favourite new bands.

* Tickets for The Nouvelles April gigs are available from Piccadilly Box Office and www.ticketline.co.uk.
