With the imps and cretins preparing for the havoc they shall reek upon this coming Halloween night, their chatter is blocked out by the creaking and echoing sounds of the cogs from the VaudeVille machine as it lurches to life again as the Organiser pulls several rusted levers .
The avante-garde cabaret night shall rise this coming Thursday the 28th of October, it’s face grimacing at the little sunlight which is left. An audience shall gather in wonder, speculating upon the origin of this creature. No answer it shall give except for a small O shape it shall form with it’s mouth. Out of this vacuum crawls creatures of questionable background and agenda, these will include:
Kieren King, poet and wordsmith
Tam Hinton, verbal convict of Swine Theatre
Conor A, dazed and confused
The Bradawls, with music and dysfunctional delights
The Face grimaces again, with other acts still in it’s belly unsure whether they want to come out or not. The Organiser shakes his head knowing he should have contacted them earlier, but now they appeared doomed to the digestive tract. A flicker appears in the eye of the Face. Could it be the performers? No, it’s a screen of animations, video and experimental pieces from around the world as well as a selection of work from the recent Free For Arts festival.
The audience’s reaction is mixed. Some laugh, some smile. Some shout, some vomit. Some vomit while shout and smiling. The Organiser smiles himself. He is partially pleased.
Anyway, see you there!
…about VaudeVille
Drown your bitterness in the strong liquor of VaudeVille. This is new electronic art cabaret. Expect a selection of the best new performance, video & music from VaudeVille collaborators.
The ethos of VaudeVille is inspired by the original Cabaret Voltaire (circa 1913) – deliberately absurd performances, poetry, and visual art that embrace the extraordinary, the irrational, and the contradictory. If you want to see avant-garde original movies, a bicycle on fire or even a sock puppet version of A Streetcar Named Desire then VaudeVille is for you!
